Most couples who do hiking or helicopter elopements don’t think about having getting ready photos done as well. This is something that is easy to overlook when you are focused on the main part of the elopement itself! However, I highly recommend getting ready photos, especially for helicopter elopements. With hiking elopements, it’s bit trickier since you’re often just getting ready at the top of the mountain (which I take photos of, of course!). But with the helicopter elopements, couples often stay in a cute cabin or airbnb, and it’s so fun to take photos in a place like that! This couple chose to stay at the Nordegg Treehouse for their helicopter elopement in Nordegg.

Ashley and Ben came from the US to elope in the Rocky Mountains. They were wondering about a place to stay, and I had seen this Nordegg Treehouse a few times. Selfishly, I wanted to shoot there because it looked like such a cool place! So I recommended it to them and they booked it! I’m so glad they did, because it’s the most perfect little cabin for getting ready photos. They have massive windows so tons of natural light. And super cute decor and furniture. The outside of the house looks super cute too, and there are just so many opportunities for great photos!

One nice thing about staying in a cabin for your elopement, is it gives you opportunity to relax and enjoy your time. You can get ready, write your vows, chill, drink coffee, whatever you want! I love that this couple chose to write their personal vows together after they got ready. It made for some great photos too! After we finished at the Nordegg Treehouse, we drove to Rockies Heli for the main part of the elopement! They chose to have the officiant come up in the helicopter, to perform the actual ceremony on the mountain. We did this elopement for sunset, so the flight was in the afternoon. After the ceremony and vows on the mountain, we spent some time walking, running, photographing with all of the epic mountain backdrops and golden light. It was so beautiful as always! Rockies Heli knows all of the best spots, so definitely check them out for your helicopter elopement in Alberta.
