If you’ve thought of traveling to Banff, you’ve likely heard of Peyto Lake. It is a very popular viewpoint along the Icefields Parkway, and can get very busy in the summertime. However, the best thing about this spot is that there are a few secret lookouts that most people don’t know about. So if you’re wanting to get Peyto Lake elopement photos but are worried about crowds, I’ve got you covered.

Some clients come just to get photos here. What I often recommend is also stopping at Bow Lake, which is just down the road. This just adds a little bit of variety to your gallery. Also, it is on the way to Rockies Heli from Banff, so if you’re doing a helicopter elopement and want some additional photos, Peyto Lake is a great spot to stop!

This couple came from Quebec, and they were having their wedding at a different time, but still wanted to get elopement photos at Peyto Lake. That is another option too! If you’re having a big wedding, or your family and friends don’t want to hike much, Peyto Lake and Bow Lake are both easily accessible and are not long hikes.

And, pro tip, plan your Petyo Lake elopement photos for sunrise or sunset! Not only is the light amazing, but the crowds are fewer too!
