When the clouds were low as I drove out to Rockies Heli, I knew the location we’d be going to for this helicopter elopement. Often when the weather is bad, or the clouds are low, there is one “safe” location they fly to, to avoid getting stuck in dangerous situations. But the low clouds were so moody and beautiful for this Lake of the Falls helicopter elopement. I couldn’t stop saying WOW the whole time I was shooting. Every angle and backdrop was just too good.

Alison and Keelan chose to do their ceremony up with the helicopter. They had one of their friends officiate the ceremony, and she absolutely crushed it!! She was super fun and lively, and made the ceremony really personal and special. If you’re wondering who to have for an officiant, in Alberta you can currently become a temporary officiant for a day. So if any of your friends or family members would be good at the task, it’s a great option. But there are also a lot of officiants who are available for helicopter elopements. When we arrived at the lookout about Lake of the Falls for this helicopter elopement, Alison and Keelan started with the ceremony. We weren’t sure exactly how long we’d have, since the clouds seemed to be getting lower. They chose to do their elopement in the evening. Just before the final remarks in the ceremony, they read their personal vows to each other. It was really sweet. Personal vows are such an emotional and special part of any elopement ceremony. After the ceremony, we ran around like mountain goats, taking photos until the pilot suggested we head down.
