Have you ever wanted to do a hiking elopement but also include your family? Well there are several ways to do it. I had a couple this year who came from the US, and wanted to do a sunset hiking elopement. They had about 10 family members come from various places in the US as well. All of the family members wanted to do the hike, so I recommended they do a moderately challenging hike. This is one option for a hiking elopement with family.

Yes, the above photo was from an elopement and all of the family hiked up! Even the mother of the groom who had just had knee surgery done the same year! If your family is not interested in joining you on the hike for your hiking elopement, here are some other ways to do it.
Pre or Post-Hike Elopement Ceremony with Family
This is often what my hiking elopement couples choose to do. If you’re planning a sunrise hike, you can do that first with me. You can say your personal vows up there and we can spend a few hours doing photos on top of the mountain. After we hike down, we can meet your family and friends for an intimate ceremony by a lake or some other ground location. There are tons of options for this in the mountains. If you’re doing a sunset hike, then we can do the ceremony before the hike by a lake or elsewhere as well. Then just the two of you and I can hike up for photos at sunset.
Different Day Intimate Elopement Ceremony
I have also had hiking elopement clients choose this option. One day, they did their ceremony at an easily accessible location that everyone could walk to. We took some photos after and hung out for an hour or 2. Then, a week later, we did a sunset hike. This took pressure off trying to make it back in time for the ceremony, or worrying about running out of light. It was just me, the bride and groom, and a friend of the bride. We had a great time with no stress at all.
These are the three options I’d recommend considering when you want to include family in your elopement ceremony. If you have more questions about how to make this all work, inquire via my contact page and we’ll get some plans in place!!
