Did you know that one of my goals for my 26th year of life was to photograph a heli-elopement? Well, to be completely honest with you, I didn’t think it would actually happen. It’s a dream I’ve had for a long time, because, I mean who doesn’t want to fly in a helicopter? (I have flown before, but its been a few years). Plus, when the helicopter takes you to the top of a mountain, you can’t really beat the views. Keep reading for this cool Canmore helicopter elopement story.

I came across Lindsay on Instagram back in the winter, and we started following each other and she seemed like a cool person. I enjoyed her content (she’s a chiropractor) and we had messaged a few times. Even thought I knew she was engaged, but didn’t think too much of it. Earlier this summer, I received a form filled out on my website, and after reading through it, I realized it was from Lindsay! In one of the boxes, she mentioned they wanted to do a helicopter elopement but had no idea where to even start planning. Well, that was like music to my ears 😉

Not everyone wants or needs help planning their elopement, and that’s totally fine! However, if you do, I have tons of vendor recommendations for hair/makeup, helicopters, florists, commissioners, etc. I told Lindsay that, and after calling around to a few helicopter companies, I sent her some info. Once she had found her dress, we decided on a date, booked the helicopter, and the rest is history! Haha. The views from the helicopter were unreal. It’s a totally different perspective being above the mountains, but still close to them (vs being in a commercial jet way up high).

We got super lucky, as their Canmore helicopter elopement happened right before Alberta brought back all the restrictions. Their day turned out perfectly, from the Canmore Engine Bridge, to the views of Mt. Assiniboine from the helicopter, to the most perfect evening light at Wedge Pond out in Kananaskis.
