Carter and Brooke’s Abraham Lake helicopter elopement was a perfect adventure elopement. They wanted photos by the lake, as well as with the helicopter. So they decided to do their intimate elopement ceremony behind the Rockies Heli base at the side of Abraham Lake, with the officiant, her husband, and me being the only others present. The officiant’s husband and I signed as witnesses. Remember in Alberta you need two witnesses to legally get married.
We took some photos along Abraham Lake before starting the ceremony. The sun was bright and the lake was that beautiful bright mountain blue! They had their ceremony at a little lookout point above the lake. You can’t get a much better backdrop than that. For the actual ceremony, they just did the required vows and I do’s. After the ring exchange and the first kiss, we headed back to the heli port for the helicopter portion with Rockies Heli. Have I mentioned yet how much I love Rockies Heli for helicopter elopements in Alberta? They are incredible and their customer service is exceptional.
We flew up to Lake of the Falls. This is a very common spot for elopements, especially on windy days. It is sheltered but still has super epic mountain backdrops all around. Carter and Brooke had written personal vows to each other as well, so they read these here beside the helicopter. After the vows, we explored the area a bit while I followed them around and took photos. As the sun was dropping, we were fortunate to have some incredible golden light.
This type of timeline is great for a helicopter elopement with Rockies Heli. Many couples choose to do their official ceremony with the helicopter as well. However, this means you need to also bring the officiant along to perform the ceremony. And it leaves a bit less time for other photos with the helicopter. But it is totally up to you!
