Kananaskis country in the fall, holds some of the most stunning scenery I have ever set my eyes on in the mountains. The beautiful larch trees start turning into the most beautiful gold. The air is crisp, and the sunrises a little later, creating pretty morning light and alpenglow across the mountain peaks. Keltey reached out to me a few months ago saying they wanted to do an adventure session in Kananaskis, or somewhere in the mountains, after their little backyard elopement. Well, what a great idea! We headed out to Pocaterra Cirque early one September morning, and had the trail all to ourselves. The larch trees were just starting to turn, so the mix of green and gold made for a beautiful backdrop.
And… they brought their beautiful golden retriever along for the photos! Gus was such a champ, and his deep red coat melded perfectly with the fall colours. He was also verrry jealous of Clayton and Keltey’s kisses haha! He wanted in on them too!
We hung around Pocaterra Cirque for about an hour, snagged some casual photos, and said good morning to all of the hikers coming after us. If you want a good hike, keep following the ridge up and do the entire Pocaterra Ridge hike. It’s a point to point, so make sure you park another car at the north end, or hitch hike up to the south parking lot when you’re finished.
Have a look through these photos from this adventure session in Kananaskis!
