Have you ever had that thought, like I’m too scared to do this. No one will want to work with me. I can’t organize something like that. This will be too hard. Etc.. ? No? Just me? Well I did feel exactly all of those thoughts when I considered trying to set up a Rocky mountain styled elopement. But I knew it would be incredible if I had the courage to set it up. So I challenged myself to contact vendors, and see what happened. Guys, guess what? It happened. Vendors didn’t say no. They got excited! They wanted to work together. And it all turned out amazing!
I’d like to give a huge shoutout to all of the vendors who made this Rocky mountain styled elopement a success. I’ll highlight how amazing they are here!
Boundary Ranch – Rocky Mountain Wedding Venue
Have you ever driven down Hwy 40, south of Hwy 1 just before you get to Canmore? If you haven’t, you MUST make this a bucket list item. The mountain views are beyond incredible. If you have, you will likely have driven past Boundary Ranch, on the left hand side of the Hwy 40 just past Kananaskis Village. It is a gorgeous ranch, nestled among the beautiful white aspen trees, surrounded completely by the majestic Rocky Mountains. When I was thinking about this styled shoot, I knew Boundary Ranch would be a perfect location. Go check them out, if you’re wanting to have a wedding ceremony in the mountains, but that’s also easily accessible for all of your guests!
Enchanted Ever After
If you’re looking for a beautiful wedding gown, Michelle is your gal. I’ve rented wedding gowns from her a couple of times for styled shoots, and they are always gorgeous. She is super easy to work with and make some beautiful creations! So check out her work if you are a bride looking for a wedding gown! And keep scrolling to see the one we used for this session!
Twin Flower Studio – Florals
Oh man, I LOVE flowers. I kinda just told Nicola to be creative and do what she wanted. I told her I wanted a more messy, loose bouquet for the bride, and then a few little table centers. She ROCKED it. The flowers she chose were absolutely perfect for a winter shoot, and I am obsessed with burgundy and pale pinks, so that’s another reason why they were perfect. Ha. But gals, you looking for a wedding florist in Alberta that knows how to make your vision come to life? Hit up Nicola at Twin Flower Studio.
Party Rental – Calgary Event Rentals
Todd was fantastic to work with. When I reached out to him about my vision for the table set, he was quick to suggest decor items. He brought extra decor out to Boundary Ranch so we could decide what would look best. The table set looked amazing and went perfectly with our winter setting. If you are in the Calgary area, be sure to check them out for your rental and decor needs!
Victor Aerden and Melanie Lynn
These 2 were the stars of the show. I have been following both of them on Instagram for at least 2 years, and Victor’s landscape photography work has always been some of my favorite. It is absolutely INCREDIBLE, so please do yourself a favour and go check it out here. You will not be disappointed.
Victor and Melanie were total troopers. My original plan was not to have snow during out styled shoot, as it was in mid October. But when in Alberta, you don’t decide the weather for yourself. Alberta does what it wants, and it brought winter early. It wasn’t a windy day, thankfully, but still a little chilly to be standing outside in wedding clothes. But they pushed through and were such good sports despite the weather. Thanks Victor and Melanie!!
Range Road 21 – Alberta Leather Work
As I was scrolling through Instagram one day, I came across these gorgeous suede vow books someone had made. I immediately thought of Jenessa, because I knew she did leather work. So I posed the question to her. And she said yes! She made us these gorgeous vow books to use for our styled elopement in Kananaskis, and I would highly recommend checking her out. She also contributed these super cool leather napkin wraps, that can be personalized with the names of all of your wedding party or guests!
XOXO Cakes – Edmonton
Paula created this beautiful little cake for our shoot, and it went perfectly with the outdoor rustic mountain setting. Thanks so much Paula! Check her out on Instagram for more of her amazing creations!
Banyan Collection Decor
Maiya has a cute little decor business, and she contributed her gorgeous woven placemats. These went perfectly with the rest of the table set as well, and added a nice touch to the simplicity of the set. Check her out on Instagram as well if you need some decor for your event or party!
Ah, the wintery goodness of this Kananaskis Rocky Mountain styled elopement at Boundary ranch was SO pretty. I know it may seem scary to get married in the winter, because you never know what the weather will do. But one thing I can GUARANTEE – it will be stunning. I hope you enjoyed this set!
