Talk about a last minute session! Haha. Benson and Tanesha had reached out and said they wanted to hire me to photograph their wedding. They live in Manitoba, but also happened to be driving to Alberta the day I talked to them, for Benson’s brother’s wedding. Initially, we decided that it wouldn’t really work to do an engagement session while they were out here, since it would still be about 6 hours from where I live. They decided to just do one on their farm back home later. But then Tanesha texted me later that night and said, actually can you come down tomorrow morning and do our engagement session in Calgary? Yep, I’ll be right on that.
I left Edmonton at 6am, Tims iced capp and farmers wrap in hand, and headed down to Calgary. It POURED the entire way there. I was supposed to be meeting them at 10am, so I arrived a little early. I kept refreshing the weather app every 5 minutes. It told me the rain was supposed to be stopping shortly, but before my eyes, it was completely socked in. I got a little bit worried, because I didn’t want them to get completely soaked.
Did you know I keep umbrellas in my car, specifically for engagement sessions that have rain?
They arrived at the parking lot where I told them to meet me, and it was still pouring. We drove down to the parking lot by the river, and decided to give it a shot anyway. Armed with our umbrellas, we headed over to the shore. The light was impeccable, which made me excited. We took some photos with them using the umbrella, and about 10 minutes later, the rain completely stopped. I couldn’t believe it! For the entire rest of the hour of their session, not a drop of rain hit us, the light was perfect, and the location was unreal (couldn’t even tell we were in the middle of Calgary).
Enjoy this little collection of this engagement session in Calgary! Super excited to photograph their wedding in October 🙂
