Canmore Winter Helicopter Elopement

Lucas, our awesome pilot with Alpine Helicopters, told us this was only the second helicopter wedding they had done this whole winter! I mean, that is understandable. Being outside in wedding clothes in the middle of winter when it’s cold, especially on top of a mountain, is not always a fun time. But the snow in the mountains makes it incredibly beautiful! We got kind of lucky for this Canmore winter helicopter elopement too, because it was a warmer day in March. The sun was shining (VERY brightly) and the heat was felt.

Chrissy and Everett had a little intimate elopement ceremony at the Three Sisters Viewpoint in Canmore. A few of their friends and family joined them there. Cole Hofstra (he’s awesome, by the way) officiated. The Three Sisters towered in the background as Chrissy and Everett said their I do’s and read personal vows to each other.

Here are two great things about Cole, while we’re at it:

  1. He makes the ceremony very personal to the couple.
  2. He makes sure to stand out of the way for the first kiss so his legs aren’t randomly placed below the couple’s faces 😀

You should definitely hire him for your mountain elopement. Click here for his website!

After the winter elopement ceremony in Canmore…

…we took some photos around the Three Sisters area, and then headed over to Alpine Helicopters for our flight! The great thing about doing you ceremony at the Three Sisters Viewpoint, is that the heliport is literally 30 seconds away. So no rushing necessary!

When you arrive at Alpine for your flight, you will make your payment and then watch a short safety video. This is also a great time to use the facilities 😉 We did all of the above, and then headed out with Lucas for our flight. It was a beautiful bluebird day. As we flew over the mountain ranges, Lucas pointed out mountains, lakes and their names. He was very informative! I asked him how deep the snow was at Marvel Pass, and he said, “I guess we’ll find out!”

After a beautiful tour around Mount Assiniboine, we landed at Marvel Pass. When we disembarked from the helicopter, there was hardly a breath of wind. Glorious! It was actually quite warm. Mind you, I was also in my winter clothes, not wedding attire 😉 I had been to Marvel Pass in the fall, and it was beautiful then. But with the snow this times, everything was just so clean and pristine.

We spent about an hour at the pass taking photos. Lucas helped me throw the dress for Chrissy, which resulted in some hilarious photos :D. The wind started to pick up, so Lucas plowed a path over to some nearby trees. It was much warmer in that spot, and we got some great shots there!

After we finished with the helicopter, we headed out to Banff for the last location. It was howling windy at Two Jack Lake and Lake Minnewanka, but we pushed through and finished off there!

Have a look through this beautiful Canmore winter helicopter elopement!
