Mackenzie and I have followed each other for a long time on instagram. Finally, we got to meet! I was wanting to get out for my first sunrise hike this season and wanted to photograph a couple while I was at it. I knew Mackenzie and Justin were experienced hikers, so I’m super glad they were down for it. We started hiking about 4:00 am. The moon set was beautiful to watch as we hiked up East End of Rundle. Our headlamps lit the way and in about 2 hours, we arrived at the summit for this Canmore sunrise hiking session.
Thankfully, we reached the summit just about 8 minutes before sunrise. Justin and Mackenzie had just the right amount of time to get changed, and we started taking photos. My favorite thing to do during couple’s sessions is to get the couple to interact with each other. This helps bring out genuine emotion, laughs, and cute expressions. It helps the couple touch each other and talk to each other how they normally would, even if they weren’t getting photographed!
The summit of East End of Rundle is quite small, so there is not a ton of room to move around for photos. After shooting up there for a bit, we started our descent. We stopped at the plateau for the last set of images. This location is beautiful, and these are where some of my favorite photos were taken. Ha Ling peak jets up in the background, producing a beautiful backdrop. The awesome thing about this hike for a session or elopement is that you can stop at the plateau on the way up if you don’t feel like going further, and it’s a stunning location for photos with lots of area to move around.
Enjoy these photos from this stunning Canmore sunrise hiking session. If you want to book a session like this, contact me here!
